Smoking tops the list of the addictions that women are addicted to. It’s not long since when women took to smoking. But it’s been proved that smoking harms women much more than it harms men. The smoking related deaths in women and also the number of women patients being admitted in the hospitals as a result of smoking complications in the recent times have multiplied manifold.
Researchers believe that women started smoking from around the mid of the last century. But it caught on women in the 1960s and the 1970s. From then on there’s been no looking back. As women started to venture out of the warm coziness of their homes to have a career of their own, they also started to fall into the pits of addictions. It’s also said that from the time women began sponsoring sporting events the instances of smoking have hiked in women. Some women take up smoking with the view that they would look manly, and stylish with the stick between their fingers.
Women somehow forgot that smoking would bring them misery and bad health and nothing else. It’s all the more dangerous for women to smoke because they have to bear babies in the future. Smoking is a bane that is harmful to both the baby as well as the mother. Apart from this also the puff brings about numerous ill effects in the life of the smoker. But I guess that’s what addiction is all about. Inspite of knowing everything one cannot give up on it.
However, today women are getting all those diseases that were earlier thought to be strictly men’s diseases. One such disease that was earlier common in men is now attacking women more. The disease is called chronic obstructive pulmonary disease or COPD. This is quite a fatal disease as it damages the lungs- permanently and can attack women and even men who smoke or used to smoke. Smoking is the primary cause behind the occurrence of this disease. Today, it is one of the most existing causes of death in the smoking women. Also it is not as if once a smoker stops smoking he or she will be relieved of this disease. COPD has been found to attack people who left smoking as long as a decade back. So, it is really important to spread this consciousness among women to quit smoking, if not for anybody else, for their own sake.
Today it is not as tough to quit smoking. There are ways to develop a restrain over ones temptations and successfully give up the addiction of the puff. Quit smoking drugs have been introduced in the market in the likes of Chantix and Zyban. Pfizer Chantix is the one currently used by most of the people trying to quit smoking. However certain side effects such as loss of hearing has been reported on the intake of chantix hence it is advised that one should buy chantix only on doctor prescription. If you are the one who uses internet as a medium to buy stuff you can easily buy chantix online. If Chantix effects suit you well and good but if it doesn’t you will either need to switch over to some other drug or restore your will power to quit safely!
