Help the Frizzies With Hair Styling Foam

Help the Frizzies With Hair Styling Foam

Oh wow – look at YOU! Did you just stick your finger in a light socket girl? Frizzies or what? What? Me? Oh I use hair styling foam and it keeps my fuzz nicely tamed down. I couldn’t stand it otherwise. Well, you know what my hair is like without help. So what happened to you today? Oh, got up late and didn’t have the time to handle it. What? You don’t have any hair styling foam? Holy smokes girl, well at lunch break, we’re going to go track some down and you can get rid of that – halo effect!

So why would you want to use something in your hair that might leave it sticky or not help you style it? Hold on a second here, if that is what you think then you have the wrong idea about hair styling foam. These days it’s incredibly light, easy to use and won’t leave behind a sticky residue. Not only that, it also packs a powerful punch when it comes to styling.

Why is using hair styling foam a good idea when combating the frizzies? It’s a good idea simply because it adds badly needed moisture to your hair. But it also does more than that. It has special ingredients in it that help your hair retain what moisture it already has. That’s a bonus! And one other thing you will be interested in – it controls static. And here you thought the only thing that gave you static was your nylons while you were walking across a carpet. Nope, this static is the kind that makes your hair stick out like a Medusa’s head. Hair styling foams with static control mean you can use them in cold dry climates, and indoors of course.

If you happen to love the sun and spend a lot of time outside under its rays, check the label of the next can of hair styling foam you buy. Make sure it has sunscreen in it. Not all of them do, and this little added bonus will make your hair pretty happy, plus reduce the amount of sun damage to your tresses. Besides, being out in the sun sucks moisture from your hair and that makes your frizzies even worse.

If you happen to get a hair styling foam that comes in an aerosol container, use only about a quarter sized dab from the can. One quick push of the button should dispense all you need. If you use too much, you will be wasting the product, go through it more quickly and pay more in the long run. So be wise with your hair styling foam and just use what you need.

Do We Take The Heal Out Of Health?

Do We Take The Heal Out Of Health?

A study done by the University of Chicago included 578 middle-aged adults – average age 40. A team measured their blood pressure and how long they slept. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend 7 to 9 hours of sleep. On average the volunteers slept 6 hours, with only 1% sleeping 8 hours or more. According to the study, missing an average of 1 hour of sleep a night over 5 years increases the risk of high blood pressure 37%. Because high blood pressure affects one-third of Americans and contributes to 7 million deaths yearly, this information shouldn’t be considered a sleeper.

A study done by “Trust for America’s Health” found more than 25% of adults are obese in 31 states. Adult obesity rates rose in 23 states and no state experienced a significant decline. At 32.5% Mississippi has the highest obesity rate; but in every state the rate of obesity is higher among 55 to 64-year-olds, causing Medicare to spend $ 1,400 to ,000 more annually on health care for obese seniors. In 1991 no state had more than a 20% obesity rate. In 2009 Colorado is the only state that doesn’t exceed that percentage. Americans need to understand fat can become “fat-al”.

A study published in the “American Journal of Preventative Medicine” said when the health risks of smoking became well-known in the 1970’s and 1980’s, the tobacco industry spent millions studying social smokers. Because social smokers don’t smoke on a daily basis, they don’t consider themselves smokers. Smoking in the U.S. has declined for a decade, but social smoking is rising. Between 1996 and 2001 social smokers went from 16% of smokers to 24%. Until social smokers admit they are smokers, campaigns to help them quit are likely to go up in smoke.

Social smokers are one reason smoking remains the leading, preventable cause of death in the U.S., causing 20% of deaths. Although the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced in 2008 the percentage of smokers was under 20% for the first time, a survey of 2,375 adults found the failing economy is making 17% of men and 31% of women smoke more. When cigarettes were hit in 2008 with the largest federal tax ever put on them, experts said the increased cost of smoking would be a major inducement for smokers to quit. Smokers seem unwilling to consider the cost to their health.

Does Smoking Making You Dumber?

Does Smoking Making You Dumber?

*** Do Not Quit Smoking! Click Here ***

Even though we are both in our 40’s now, my oldest brother and I still get a kick out of teasing each other like we did when we were kids. This childish behavior was no exception during his recent visit. Besides the occasional “noogie” or “biff” upside the head, you might have heard my brother chant “my little sister’s ugly, my little sister’s ugly”. And of course my witty retort was “my brother’s a dumbie, my brother’s a dumbie.”

Now before you roll your eyes and write us off as a couple of mean spirited maniacs, indulge me for a moment and let me just say that my brother and I love each other dearly. We have so much fun hanging out together with our kids and just being, well, down right silly sometimes. Nonetheless, when I came across some research material recently that relates to the effects of smoking on the brain, I couldn’t help but feel a little distressed when I thought about my brother.

My brother smokes. He has smoked for years. He says it is stress buster for him. He has tried to quit several times, using several different methods but he always seems to go back to it. I, on the other hand smoked for years too, but I managed to give it up when I found out I was expecting my first child, which was over 12 years ago. I admit I almost always enjoyed the distasteful habit, especially after a big, delicious meal. But I must say I don’t miss the typical downfalls of smoking such as bad breath, stinky clothes, yellow teeth, and the most insidious side effect of all, increased risk of cancer. Plus, based on the new research, apparently I’m not losing as many brain cells either.

Although rather complicated in terms of the study itself, the findings are quite simple, and yet surprising I think to most of us. With over 172 men participating, the test was initially set out to find the long term effect of alcoholism on the brain. While it was made clear that alcoholism does have a long term effect on neurocognitive function, the study also showed that smoking may diminish the speed and accuracy of your thinking, cause memory impairment and it can actually lower your IQ.

Now I don’t know about you, but if the other side effects weren’t enough to call it quits, I think the findings from this relatively new research may just do the trick, at least for my brother. I am quite sure he won’t like it the next time I say “my brother’s dumbie” and actually have to mean it.

The Author recommends that you DO NOT Quite Smoking. There’s a healthier alternative to it. To know more, please click here.

Taking Your First Step To Quit Smoking For Good

Taking Your First Step To Quit Smoking For Good

Everyone is encouraging you to quit smoking for good. You’ve probably thought over the problem and wondered if you could do it, but shoved the thought aside in the end. You’re not ready, you think. Maybe you’re thinking it’s too late for you, that you’re already hooked.

Maybe you’re scared that you’ll fail, so you’re telling yourself there’s no point in trying. Those thoughts are already a clue that it’s time to stop smoking now, if only to prove to yourself that you really are that strong and can kick the habit.

Make no mistake: you will have to be strong to quit smoking. Stopping a habit is difficult, and one that comes with cravings is even harder to kick. But if so many people have stopped smoking for good, there really isn’t any reason to think you can’t stop smoking too. In fact, here is plenty of support, help for ways to stop smoking, as well as quit smoking aids available to make quitting easier than ever.

Before you decide to quit, sit down and write a list of all the reasons to stop smoking now. Think of everything you can: your health, financial aspects, odor and smells, house damage, risks for your children or friends. No reason is too small. Now, write down all the reasons you should continue to smoke. The lists probably don’t even come close to evening out, do they?

The list of reasons to quit smoking should be something you carry everywhere for a while. The point is to remind yourself why you should stop smoking and have that list on hand to read each time you smoke.

You’re eventually going to turn your internal dialogue messages into ones that discourage you from continuing to smoke, which is great.

Pick a quit date. Make sure it’s a date well in the future and one that isn’t going to have other stressors going on at that time. Your quit date will be the day you stop smoking for good.

Plan for it, prepare yourself for it and tell everyone about it. Quitting smoking starts a long, long time before you actually have your last cigarette.

Withdrawal symptoms are the worst part about trying to quit smoking. When you try to quit smoking, you might mentally think that you need the nicotine contained in the cigarettes.

Oftentimes, however, you can trick your brain into forgetting about those craving by drinking a glass of water or doing something else that will take your mind off it.

Your doctor can give you some medical advice on ways to quit smoking, too. You can choose one or more aids because it’s proven that quitting cold turkey doesn’t have successful results. Many people use patches, hypnotism, laser treatment, and other ways to quit smoking.

There really is no reason to be a martyr and put yourself through the hardest times possible. Accept help from your doctor, listen to advice about coping with cravings and make the process easier.

Cigarette Mannerisms

Cigarette Mannerisms

Usually you can give the characteristic of our whole personality simply by the way we smoke. There is huge variety of mannerisms that smokers stick to. Some people always have cigarettes drooping from their mouth. Others play with cigarettes while they are talking moving it up and down in their mouths. In order to show their aggression or irritation, some men hold the cigarette with their thumb and forefinger, the way, which the glowing end shows toward the hand. The major complains of men about the way women smoke cigarettes are that women tend to blow out smoke right into face, without even trying to avoid that.

Very often smokers will assume a pose, as they are sure that it fits their personality. For instance, one not very modest glamour woman confessed to us some of her special “smoking tricks” She was thinking that it makes her look much more glamorous and far too more attractive when she smokes cigarettes with holder. She even insisted that she studied that subject very carefully and wanted the holders to be only long and dark, comparing a long holder with a big hat: “it’s alluring and “don’t dare come close” at the same time.”

As every cigarette smoker goes through the motion of lighting and inhaling the smoke, therefore there are many ways in which these acts are carried depending on the mood.

The faster smoking tempo is, the more nervous is the one who smokes that cigarette. If the smoker is angry, he will blow the smoke in a harsh aggressive way, very impulsively, as if trying to blow somebody down. By the way, person who smokes his cigarette pressing his lips tightly around it is probably about to ask a raise for salary, as if to gain courage from holding it that way.

Among other smoking rituals are: shaking off ashes into ashtray, taking smoking accessories, putting out of cigarette, lighting the new one. Person may not even smoke, but roll a pack of cigarettes in his hand, crumple cigarette, play with the lighter.

“My brand” has a special significance, as if it were a part of the smoker’s credo and personality. For example, a guest who discovers that his host smokes cigarettes of the same brand considers this almost personal flattery. And if a girl changes to the brand of her admirer, he realizes that he surely made an impression.

Chef Opportunities in Oregon

Chef Opportunities in Oregon

Let’s take a look at some of the delicious opportunities available to students graduating from culinary colleges in Portland.

Author of a Marionberry Cook Book

Marionberries are a species of blackberry created at Oregon State University in the 1940s and grown throughout the state. Oregonians are very proud of this delicious little, black berry. It possesses a more complex flavour than other blackberries, which makes a perfect choice for both sweet and savory dishes. Take your education and experience from culinary college in Oregon and become the recognized expert at cooking with these little treasures.

Own and Operate Your Own Smoked Seafood Restaurant

Its Pacific Coast geography makes Oregon an excellent place for fresh seafood. And one of the best ways to enjoy seafood is by smoking it. Two of Oregon’s biggest seafood crops are salmon and Dungeness crab. Both of which are excellent candidates for smoking. Whether you envision a small shack on the coast or an upscale restaurant in Portland, your smoked seafood restaurant could be a big hit.

Chef at a Raw Food Restaurant

Oregon farmers were some of the first to embrace sustainable and organic farming back in the 1970s. And many Oregonians soon embraced the sustainable food lifestyle. Today raw foods make up a rapidly growing segment of the organic food market. Picked fresh and served fresh, raw foods aren’t cooked or processed in any way. Open a raw food restaurant and you’ll know that you’re not only serving high quality food but contributing to the overall health of your customers.

Personal Chef in Portland

It seems that we all keep getting busier. Our schedules are always full with work, children’s activities, and charity events leaving little time for some of life’s other necessities like cooking and serving meals. While regrettable for some, it creates an opportunity for anyone who wants to create a business that caters to those too busy to create delicious, home-cooked meals. Your personal chef business could create pre-cooked and pre-portioned meals for Portlanders on the go. They only need to reheat and serve your delicious creations.

It is also a great place to practice competitive barbeque as a member of the Pacific Northwest Barbeque Association, a group whose mission is to educate the public in the furtherance and development of authentic barbecue knowledge. So get your portable smoker, a couple of big coolers, and all of your secret bbq techniques and become the next champion barbeque chef from Oregon.

How To Stop Smoking Pot – The 3 Most Important Rules To Finally Help You Quit Smoking Cannabis!

How To Stop Smoking Pot – The 3 Most Important Rules To Finally Help You Quit Smoking Cannabis!

So you have finally decided to stop smoking pot. Firstly, I applaud you for your decision. I know from personal experience, how much cannabis can take over your life. I also know exactly how tough it is to stop smoking pot once and for all. Therefore in this article I would like to provide some tips on how to quit smoking cannabis.

1) Rather than trying to stop smoking pot cold turkey, you need to formulate a plan. Most cannabis smokers have a set routine when they try and give up. You will kid yourself that as soon as your current baggy is finished, that’s it, you’re going to quit smoking cannabis for good. So you smoke that baggy twice as quickly as you normally would and when it’s finished, you find yourself buying more! It’s a vicious circle that will control you if you allow it to.

Set a date about one month in the future as your “giving up” date. Up to this date gradually cut back on the amount of cannabis you are smoking. If you’re a heavy smoker, try and cut back to 1 or 2 joints a day. After ten days, cut this down again. One a day or one joint every alternate day for the next 10 days. For the final 10 days, try and only smoke 2 or 3 joints in total until you reach your giving up day!

2) On the day that you eventually decide to stop smoking pot, you will need to throw out and lose every single piece of drug paraphernalia that you own. Papers, lighters, roach material, bongs, bags, grinder, etc. I made the mistake of initially keeping all these things locked up in a drawer. This just makes it far easier to get sucked back in.

If the temptation to smoke cannabis is there, you are unfortunately more likely to take it. No matter what anyone tells you, pot is addictive. However, it is far more a psychological addiction that a physical one. If you leave temptation in your way, your mind is likely to take over and you will probably be smoking pot or weed by the end of the day.

3) The hardest and yet most important aspect of how to stop smoking pot is losing your friends. Cannabis is both a social and yet very unsociable drug. Usually long time pot smokers become distant from family and friends who don’t partake in their habit. However, other pot smokers soon become your closest allies.

I found that most of my “pot-smoking” friends were all for me giving up and were even proud. However, I couldn’t ask or force any of them to quit smoking cannabis with me. Watching them smoke and pass round a joint between each other was killing me! Once again why would you put temptation in front of you. When you finally stop smoking pot once and for all, you will realize what a great decision you’ve made. However by hanging out with the same friends, believe me, it won’t be long before you revert back to your old ways!

WARNING: Don’t allow Cannabis or Marijuana to take over and eventually ruin your life!
