According to the United Nations cannabis is the most widely and frequently used illegal substance in the World. Although some countries (and, at the time of writing, thirteen US states) allow the production and sale of cannabis for medicinal use, recreational use of the plant is currently prohibited in all Western Nations.

Cannabis contains a number of psychoactive chemicals that produce feelings of relaxation and euphoria.  The main compound responsible for the effects of cannabis intoxication is delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, although several other compounds present in cannabis also have an effect on the body. Some studies have suggested that long-term exposure to cannabis, or exposure to high concentrations of THC over shorter time periods, is a significant risk factor in developing some mental health problems such as depression and schizophrenia.

Concerns about the effects of cannabis upon mental health, together with (statistically unfounded) claims that cannabis is a ‘gateway drug’ that raises the user’s risk of going on to do harder drugs form the basis of the argument in favour of the plant’s continued illegality. Whether cannabis should remain illegal, be completely legalized or else subject to some level of decriminalization, regulation and taxation lies beyond the reach of this article, though it is clear that the current legislation and approach to cannabis is woefully inadequate and ineffective. Currently all of the wealth generated from the production and sale of cannabis (estimated in the US alone to be billion annually) is controlled by criminal gangs, while prohibiting its use has clearly failed to prevent cannabis use rising rapidly year on year. In the UK it is estimated that some three million people regularly smoke cannabis, and thought that as many as fifty percent of eighteen to twenty-four year olds have tried cannabis at least once.

Whilst many people around the world are prepared to break the law and use cannabis for recreational purposes, many others prefer to achieve a similar effect using herbal or synthetic smoking mixtures made from plants or substances that are not controlled. These products – known as legal weeds – are usually made from legal plants that have mild psychoactive properties, or else plants that produce cannabis-like flowers which can be infused with synthetic legal highs.

Many legal weed mixtures use the herb Lion’s Tail which is noted for its relaxing and mildly hallucinogenic properties. Mugworts are also common ingredients of legal weeds, being known for their mild hallucinogenic effects.

Marijuana Should be Legalized in the United States

McQueen’s talent and understanding of the women’s body at “Savage Beauty” retrospective

Masculine vs. Feminine. Past vs. Future. Dark vs. Light. The extremes straddled by fashion designer Alexander McQueen in his perform, encouragement and, apparently, in his life, fit together like a jigsaw puzzle in a modern museum show called “Savage Beauty.” The examination of contrasts in the exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute shows McQueen, the artist and intellectual, as he was celebrated during his career — and even after his suicide at age 40 in February of 2010.

Cannabis And The Void

var addthis_config = { “data_track_clickback”:true, ui_language: “en” }

google_ad_channel = AB_cat_channel + AB_unit_channel;
google_language = “en”;

Often when people give up smoking cannabis, a massive hole (or void) is made within themselves. They are left with a feeling of depression and emptiness. It’s like something is missing. Something you love has now disappeared and you feel sadness because you want that feeling back.

Truth is you don’t actually want marijuana back, but you do want the FEELING that marijuana gave you back.

I hear it often that many users are saying they find it difficult to cope with this change their body is going through. My advise for this problem is always the same …

Learn something new.

You see, you feel like your missing out on something. Something has gone, its vanished off the face of the earth and you want it back. Well instead of going around in a hopeless loop and ….

Giving up then smoking a few days later,
Giving up then smoking a few days later,
Giving up then smoking a few days later,
… etc

Try and fill The Void! As an ex-user myself I know exactly what it is like and today I am going to share with you the exact thing that I used to fill my void with. There’s two things actually.

1. Golf. I absolutely love playing Golf and because I used to smoke cannabis I never played as much as I liked to. So when I gave up smoking cannabis I went and played Golf several times per week. I got two great benefits from playing Golf. Firstly, I was outdoors taking some well needed exercise which also helped me to sleep at night, and secondly it was filling The Void.

2. Think and Grow Rich. This is a phenomenal book that gave me added passion to give up smoking but also to better myself in all areas of life. By learning and reading, it gave me purpose to my life and introduced me to a world that I never knew. The author Napoleon Hill was a wonderful sharing person and he shared this brilliant book with us back in the 1930’s. It’s power and potential is simply mind blowing.

Fill your own Void, make sure it is something you love doing. Make sure it is something you are passionate about and stick to it no matter what.

Creating Your Own Happiness

Creating your own happiness is letting go of what is holding it back, for we are all meant to be happy in our lives, living from a place of enjoyment, contentment ,and love. Why then does it feel like sometimes your life is missing this element; why are you without it? It can feel this way and really seem like this is so. But being happy is realizing you can be and that it is a choice. Happiness is not because of something on the outside, it comes from within.

Helping A Loved One Get Off Weed

There are few things more damaging to a relationship than an addiction. I constantly hear from my readers that their partner’s marijuana addiction eats away at their finances, ruins the time they have to spend together and overall leaves them feeling second-best to a leafy green weed.

It is understandable that…

The Canadian Medical Marihuana Access Regulations are a complicated maze to maneuver through. A common question is: Where can I medicate?

Patients really must think of themselves as just that: patients who are using doctor-prescribed medicine, as opposed to the recreational cannabis consumer. While there should be no shame in medicating when and in the manner that best suits your needs, you must consider how your medicine affects those around you.

An example would be a diabetic, who can and should give themselves insulin injections as needed, where needed. However, injecting themselves at the dinner table or in the middle of a business meeting isn’t appropriate; many individuals get more than a little freaked out at the sight of someone sticking themselves with a needle, even if it’s for an acceptable purpose. Most likely, you’d have to excuse yourself to the bathroom or a similar private location. You should consider treating your cannabis therapeutics as such; respect others and respect your own privacy when it comes to your health.

Source: http://www.medicalmarijuanacure.com/benefits-of-marijuana

Technically, the MMAR allows for patients to partake of their smoked cannabis medicine anywhere it’s legally acceptable to smoke tobacco. These days there are almost no indoor locations that allow smoking indoors, so this regulates legal cannabis consumers to outdoor smoking areas and the occasional ventilated smoking room. However, while some municipalities allow for smoking tobacco on outdoor restaurant/bar patios, some establishment owners have resisted cannabis consumers doing the same. In fact, there’s a Human Rights Tribunal hearing in progress in Ontario relating specifically to licensed cannabis consumers’ right to possess and consume in areas where tobacco smokers can smoke in licensed, outdoor settings. I’ll be sure to keep you updated as to the progress of this case.

In the meantime, the key to consuming in public and semi-public areas is that you respect those around you. Don’t light up when there are children nearby. Try not to blow it in people’s faces, or stand near open doorways and vents. Never share your medicine with anyone (you shouldn’t be doing that at any time) and do yourself a big favor and always leave the house with your Health Canada card on your person. Just the smell alone could raise the ire of the wrong person and next thing you know, you’ll have to explain the situation to law enforcement. Without your card, you’re no more protected from arrest than the recreational consumer (even if you can beat the charges later, you don’t want to have to go to court at all). The smell can also attract unwanted attention from criminals who would use the opportunity to harass or even rob you. Do you really want to have to explain your private health issues with a stranger for the umpteenth time?

Lastly, unless you’re at a rally or protest of some sort and/or you know you’re surrounded by like-minded folk, I’d avoid smoking in public while decked out in a bunch of 420 gear (e.g. pot leaves, Rasta colors, stoner logos, etc.). Again, most likely you’ll not run into trouble, but why take the chance? If you’re dealing with some sort of chronic illness (which you are, or you wouldn’t have a license in the first place), can you really afford to expend the energy required to deal with either law enforcement or the general public hassling you?

It depends on tolerance level of where you are. For instance, while walking down the street smoking a joint may not attract too much negative attention in Vancouver or Montreal, it very well could in cities like Calgary or Saskatoon. So if you want to save yourself some trouble, keep this in mind: JUST BECAUSE YOU CAN, DOESN’T MEAN YOU SHOULD.

The California economy is in trouble, but there’s at least one industry in the state that’s booming: medical marijuana. Because the government has always been so vocally against cannabis and the growth of marijuana seeds, quite a lot of myths and legends have sprung up around the drug to make it seem more dangerous. Here’s some of the more memorable myths related to marijuana:

Marijuana is a Gateway Drug

What we have here is a lazy interpretation of statistics. This misnomer is based on the fact that cannabis is the most popular illegal drug around, and as such the people who have used the less popular, harder drugs are likely to have tried marijuana as well.

If you’re still in doubt about this one, consider this: since cannabis was partially legalised in Holland in the 1970s, usage of heroin and cocaine have dropped substantially. If cannabis were a gateway drug, then the legalisation of it would cause an increase in these harder drugs, not a drop!

Cannabis is a More Dangerous Drug than Tobacco

While it’s true that smoked cannabis contains around the same number of carcinogens as a similar amount of smoked tobacco, this is a pointless comparison because of the relative usage. While a heavy smoker may easily work their way through 10-20 cigarettes in a day (and often significantly more), it’s very rare to find anyone who smokes marijuana in quantities even approaching that.

A 1997 UCLA study backs this up further, and states that even prolonged heavy marijuana use causes no serious lung damage. Meat, salt and dairy products present a bigger cancer risk than the humble joint, and for those who are still worried remember that all cancer and respiratory risks can be sidestepped by taking cannabis in baked goods!

Cannabis Contains Over 400 Chemicals, Which Proves it’s Dangerous

This is a half truth – yes, cannabis can contain this many chemicals, but this is very much a scare number. Not all chemicals are deadly, and to put this into perspective coffee contains 1,500 chemicals, while rat poison contains just 30. The take home message of this? The number of chemicals in a product has no relation as to how dangerous it is!

The Slang Term ‘420’ Comes From Police Codes

This is just plain wrong. 420 (pronounced “Four-Twenty”) is not police radio code for anything, and is not related to penal code. Nor is it because of Hitler’s birthday (April 4th), the date of the Columbine school shootings (this was terminology years before then) or based on the number of active chemicals in marijuana. The term actually comes from San Rafael High School in the 1970s, where some of the students would meet up at 4:20pm after class. The code was developed so they could talk openly about their plans without alerting their parents to their drug use!

Nowadays the code is so well known that this won’t work as a strategy. Some people use the term “420 friendly” to show their acceptance of marijuana use, and April 20th has become National Pot Smoker’s Day in homage to the students – who are now in their 50s.

Cannabis Damages the Brain/Reproductive System/Immune System

All of these claims have been levelled at cannabis on the back of some fairly shaky science. Let’s tackle these one by one:

The brain damage accusation was the result of an experiment by Dr Robert Heath from the late 1970s. It claims to demonstrate brain damage in rhesus monkeys as a consequence of marijuana. It was however reviewed by a distinguished panel of scientists in 1982 and was found to have severe weaknesses: the sample was too small (just four monkeys), it failed to control experimental bias and crucially misidentifying a normal monkey brain structure as damaged! Subsequent studies have shown no evidence of brain damage.

The claim that marijuana damages the reproductive system is based on two bits of research – one based on isolated tissue cells in petri dishes, and the other based on animal research. Both are invalid – the scientific community has stated that isolated cells cannot be compared to full human beings, and the animals in question were given near-lethal dosages of cannabinoids – far more than one would get from a ‘normal’ dose. Further to this, the animals that didn’t die in the testing returned to normal within 30 days. Suffice it to say, no studies of actual human populations have demonstrated any evidence of this!

The immune system myth has the same problems as the reproductive ones – animals were given close to lethal dosages of cannabinoids making comparisons invalid. In fact, a couple of studies undertaken in 1978 showed that cannabis and hashish may actually boost the immune system in some!

People Have Died as a Direct Consequence of Cannabis Abuse

Not true. Scientists have carried out experiments on animals, and the results show you would need an extraordinarily high dosage of cannabis to be lethal. In fact, the amount of cannabinoids required to get a person stoned relative to the amount needed to kill is around 1:40,000. To put this into everyday sense, you would need to consume 40,000 times as much cannabis as would get you stoned to have a lethal dosage.

Let’s put this into further into perspective. Alcohol’s relative intoxication to death ratio is between 1:4 and 1:10. No wonder alcohol is responsible for the deaths of more than 5,000 people every year.

Cannabis is More Potent Today Than in the Past

This is a common myth based on bad data. The researchers who made these claims measured the THC content of marijuana seized in the early 70s, but fail to take into account the poor storage of the samples in question, which will have lead to a decline in its potency before any tests could be undertaken. Independent assessments on unseized street cannabis from the 1970s shows the potency is roughly the same as it has ever been.

These are far from the only myths around cannabis, and the drug is sure to attract more in the future. Remember, if it sounds dubious then look up the facts yourself. The old adage of “don’t believe everything you read” should apply doubly when dealing with facts about cannabis and marijuana seeds.

Medical marijuana is now legal in fourteen US states and each one of these states has its own regime for distribution. If you want to start selling medical marijuana seeds in your own headshop or pharmacy you’ll still need to abide by the state rules. The effectiveness of marijuana as a medical drug has been a much-debated topic, and the prescriptive use of cannabis seeds is becoming increasingly popular.

Who Can Sell Medical Marijuana?

Medical marijuana is now legal in fourteen US states and each one of these states has its own regime for distribution. If you want to start selling medical marijuana seeds in your own headshop or pharmacy you’ll still need to abide by the state rules.

Who Can Sell Medical Marijuana?

Medical marijuana is now legal in fourteen US states and each one of these states has its own regime for distribution. If you want to start selling medical marijuana seeds in your own headshop or pharmacy you’ll still need to abide by the state rules. It is still a federal offence to sell or buy marijuana in the US so make sure all the correct protocols are in place, and only sell to approved patients whatever state you happen to be in.

Can Marijuana Cure Swine Flu?

The effectiveness of marijuana as a medical drug has been a much-debated topic, and the prescriptive use of cannabis seeds is becoming increasingly popular. nd heavy pot smokers go through withdrawal when they first quit weed. The detox period tends to last between 10 days to a month, and is worst in the beginning. Quitting weed sometimes produces physical and psychological withdrawal symptoms.  The most common symptoms are discussed in detail below. Moodiness and Nervousness! Anxiety is a big obstacle to get over in the first weeks of stopping. The anxiety that you feel during quitting is usually small relative to a full blown anxiety attack – but it is constant! You need to be prepared to deal with the emotional and mental state you will be in for the first couple of weeks when you quit smoking. I have searched through sofa pillows, and the trash, just to find a roach or a little nugget to smoke. I describe it as missing something, and needing to get back to a high state so that you can be relaxed. You may notice that you are hold a lot of tension and breathe poorly in the first week. Keeping yourself busy will help some, but it won’t make this feeling go away.  Keep reading to learn more about  withdrawal from marijuana. Inability to Sleep and Racing Thoughts Insomnia is a big deal in the first couple days of not smoking cannabis. There have been times where I have not slept for a couple of days. This goes away.

If smoking pot makes you relaxed and tired, quitting can make you anxious and your mind lose focus.  It can take a while for your sleeping patterns to get back to normal. Generally within a month you will have more normal sleep patterns and get a full nights sleep. It is important to keep a regular sleep / wake schedule when going through marijuana withdrawal. Crazy Dreams and Nightmares As any smoker knows, cannabis intereres with your dreams and keeps you from dreaming or makes you forget them. When you give your body a break from marijuana, the dreams come back – and sometimes with a vengeance. If you haven’t dreamed in a long time, this aspect of marijuana withdrawal is very peculiar. Memories from years ago may resurface in dream form. I remember having a dream of classmates from high school that I hadn’t seen in over 10 years! Nightmares are common when you go through marijuana withdrawal. These can be vivid and involve people and things you know. I have had several dreams where I thought the world was about to end and I have woken up in a sweat before. Some people dream about marijuana, and smoke smoke in their dreams. This is part of the detox process and entirely normal. Loss of Appetite One of the most common symptoms of marijuana withdrawal is a lack of appetite. This usually lasts for 3 to 4 days after the last time you smoke.

You can almost think of it as the opposite of the munchies. Take Out doesn’t taste as good without smoking pot! It is normal if your appetite shrinks, or that you aren’t hungry for a couple days. You may even lose some weight when you go through cannabis withdrawal. The lack of hunger can be a part of a more general feeling of being sick that has been described as low-level flu like symptoms. Very few people get nausea or diarrhea, but it can happen. When I quit smoking weed, my diet improved. I have experienced the loss of appetite, and even the runs during the first week of quitting. The Sweats You may experience this after not smoking weed for a few days. Personally, I believe this to be caused by the stress of adaptation to life without weed. I do know that after smoking (succumbing to temptation) the sweats dissapear immediately. One tip for dealing with this, is to think of it as cleansing and that your body is boiling out the THC.  Your are speeding up your recovery by sweating it out! Are you tired of being a prisoner to weed? Have you tried and failed to quit before? Do you want to avoid withdrawal when you stop? Do you want learn how to quit smoking pot, go to <a rel=”nofollow” onclick=”javascript:_gaq.push([‘_trackPageview’, ‘/outgoing/article_exit_link’]);” href=”http://ezinearticles.com/?Why-Quit-Marijuana?—The-Effects-of-Marijuana-on-the-Mind&id=1770027″>stop smoking pot</a> } and learn to kick the habit for good!

During the 70s, smoking pot or cannabis was very popular. Since cannabis is a natural herb, people believed that it could not pose any ill effects on their health. People who smoke cannabis exhibit different physiological and behavioral effects. Most feel drowsy but generally happy, making this herb a favorite among teens. But of course, anything that is consumed in huge amounts is not good for you. Since there are evidences of cannabis abuse, many countries have considered the herb illegal.

Cannabis addiction, like any other addiction, causes changes in a person’s behavior. Majority of the people who become addicted to cannabis have issues of depression and low self-esteem. By smoking cannabis, they feel more uninhibited and their moods are also improved. Because of the wonderful feelings associated with smoking cannabis, these people end up addicted to it.

Becoming addicted to cannabis can also be as destructive as other addictions. When the effects of the herb wears off, the person experiences this uncontrollable urge to smoke pot again to regain the lost feeling. Soon, you will feel like you are unable to accomplish anything if you are not under the cannabis’ influence. You will begin having mood swings, feeling euphoric one moment and depressed the next. Aside from these, cannabis addicts also display behavior like disappearing for hours, lying about where they have been and stealing money to buy cannabis.

Treating cannabis addiction requires intervention. In most cases, a family member or a close friend would be the one who will arrange for the person to go to rehabilitation centers. It is very seldom that these cannabis addicts would volunteer to undergo treatment. At the rehabilitation center, cannabis addiction is treated thru counseling and medication, if necessary. The withdrawal stage is the most difficult part since it is the time when your body returns to its normal functions.

People who have completed treatment in rehabilitation centers for cannabis addiction are most likely to relapse because their personality shows a weakness to the herbal substance. Unless the behavior is changed, you can expect most of these people to pick up the cannabis addiction once again as soon as they get out of rehab.

If you have a friend who is visibly becoming addicted to cannabis, you could try hypnotherapy before resorting to rehab centers. There have been evidences that hypnotherapy is effective in treating addiction, fears and phobias by targeting the subconscious.

Marijuana or scientifically known as Cannabis is sometimes called weed. Others call it “pot” and other names. Regardless of how it is called, this has one effect on one’s mind. It can be addictive. Once you tried it, it is even harder to stop it. If you really aimed to stop smoking marijuana, you should know more information about it-its effects and result to your body. When you are knowledgeable enough, you will be equipped to stop your addiction.

If you are not knowledgeable enough about Cannabis, you might think that it will not have any bad effect towards your body. People who do not have enough information about stopping Cannabis addiction will bring about the worst effect, that is, slavery to pot smoking.

General Information about Cannabis

Remember, marijuana has totally different effect compared to that of cigarettes. Cigarettes will bring about physical sickness whereas marijuana will bring about bad effects on your body and mind. With marijuana, you will be too dependent on it and you will surely crave and feel somewhat crazy if you’re not going to have it.

When a person withdraws from cannabis, the effect is similar to that of giving up weed smoking. When a person craves for cannabis he will surely have scary dreams. Sometimes it is vivid. Scientifically, this is due to the so called THC or Tetrahydrocannabinol that remains in his body system. During the process of withdrawal, a person feels more anxious and even more paranoid. He will also have difficulty in sleeping. However, these symptoms will just fade away as time goes.

When a person tries to stop smoking pot, there is always the so-called psychological dependence. You will always have this thought of feeling to have it, and that you need it. Well, this is the psychological effect of cannabis addiction. For others, since smoking weed is their way of escaping their problems, when they stop smoking cannabis, they will feel more depressed.

So, is it really difficult to stop smoking cannabis? It’s not. Just think positive. There are ways to succeed in your aim for a brighter future. Here are some simple tips:

1. Set your objective. It is important that you are committed to stop smoking weed. Stick to this commitment. You should bare in mind and engender in your heart that you want to stop smoking. Believe in yourself and don’t lose hope. It is important that you will set a 100% positive mind and heart on your aim.

2. Read and understand cannabis addiction. Get more idea about it. You should research more ways about stopping weed smoking. Learn the withdrawal process and the possible things that you will face during the different stages of withdrawal. In this so called “battle”, you will not win if you are not equipped.

3. If you are introvert, overcome it. Communicate and open up with others. Remember, however, to choose your friends. It is useless to still be with friends who influenced you to do pot smoking. Be with people who are willing to sympathize, to empathize and understand what will go through.

May you be successful in this aim. Remember, once you got out of this darkness you will surely have a brighter future.

I feel bad for people that 1. talk about how ‘bad’ pot is, but leave out alcohol and tobacco and 2. feel the need to tell everyone it’s bad when half the people in the country smoke the stuff. Omg jimmy smoked a joint instead of working on his free energy project, too bad he didn’t smoke some crack instead and rob a store for his next rock. You all preach about following this God fellow till he spawns a plant you can smoke without alteration, I don’t get it.
