Myth 1: Smoking is cool and sexy
In fact, smoking causes your teeth yellow, your face skin wrinkles, and make your clothes smell of cigarette smoke. Effect of cigarette smoking on the scent of your breath is also no need to ask again. On a poll, 86% of teen says they prefer to date nonsmokers. Moreover, research shows that men with high blood pressure who smoke are much more likely to experience impotence than non-smokers. Not at all cool, right?
Myth 2: If I only smoke a cigarette filter, menthol, light, mild, or slim, I’m safe. Most smokers are shocked when they find out the composition of the material in a cigarette. Debra Pardue, a therapist in America whose expertise has been recognized, said that nicotine does not cause lung cancer, but the nicotine which causes addiction. “Other additional materials contained in cigarettes that cause cancer,” he said.
From there are many smokers who switch to filter cigarettes, menthol, light, mild, or slim. In fact, smokers who only smoke a few cigarettes per day or smoked low tar cigarettes have a tendency to add “portion” cigarette and day to day because they feel deprived of nicotine and need to fill the taste is addictive. Cigarette filters though still contain nicotine and other harmful chemical compounds, which enter into your body when inhaled. In fact, according to the National Cancer Institute in America, people who smoke low-tar cigarettes or filter cigarettes would inhale more deeply, so that more carbon monoxide and other harmful compounds that go into their lungs.
Myth 3: If I only smoke a few cigarettes a day, was safe. Even if you only smoke one cigarette per day, smoking is still not safe. After inhaling, you will feel the adrenaline flow which can increase blood pressure heart rate and your breathing rate. In addition, cigarette contains more than 4,000 other harmful chemicals that enter your body when you smoke, and the effect is bad for your health.
Myth 4: chewed tobacco is safe to do because you do not inhale the smoke.
Many people misunderstand the dangers of chewing tobacco. They do not understand that by chewing tobacco you become more susceptible to oral cancer, which affects Iidah, lips, cheeks, and gums. Moreover, a study published in the American Journal of Public Health and involved 6300 users of smokeless tobacco, reported that chewing tobacco users was twice Iebih risk of dying from heart disease than those who do not use it.
Myth 5: Smoking or chewing tobacco can lower blood pressure. No one knows when this myth started, but some people believe that smoking or chewing tobacco helps them relax by lowering blood pressure. This myth is not supported by scientific research at all! A group of researchers in Stockholm, Sweden studied 135 healthy people who have never been diagnosed with high blood pressure. But after checking their blood pressure, researchers found that those who smoke or chew tobacco have blood pressure higher than those who do not do it.
