I have often found that there is an extremely thin line between the facts and myths about weed. I guess this has much to do with how any other myth or misconception is born. People hear things, perhaps only half truths, they then pass this information onto someone else (with a few added extras), and it isn’t long before it’s impossible to tell the difference between truth and pure myth.
This is the exact reason why I wanted to write this article today…I want to introduce you to the 3 biggest myths and 3 of the biggest facts about weed:-
Myths
1) Weed is known to cause permanent brain damage – Let’s get one thing straight, we know that a marijuana addiction can impair a person’s thought process and their judgement, but this in no way constitutes permanent brain damage. There have been numerous scientific studies carried out on marijuana and its effects, and we are now aware that taking large and potent quantities of weed will cause anxiety, paranoia and even temporary psychosis, but these are all short term problems.
I will openly admit that smoking weed can lead to you making extremely poor decisions, which can have a dramatically negative impact on your life, however, this is definitely not because of damage to your brain, but simply because you are too high to know any better.
Click Here To Grab Your FREE Report – The 4 Killer Negative Effects That Weed Is Having On Your Life
2) Marijuana isn’t addictive – Once again, allow me to set the record straight – Marijuana Addiction is very real! Perhaps weed isn’t as highly addictive as many other drugs, but it is very easy to become psychologically dependent on pot. If you are simply an occasional cannabis smoker you should find cutting it out of your life fairly simple, however, the real problems begin when you smoke weed more frequently.
There are various marijuana withdrawal symptoms that many people never, ever experience, but I would hazard a guess that their marijuana consumption hasn’t been an everyday habit for many years. No matter what anyone tells you, there is such a thing as marijuana addiction.
3) Weed will not do me any harm – I’m sorry, but this is simply not true. I will cover more of the physical aspects you should be aware of below, but marijuana addiction can lead to some extremely suspect psychological practices. As I have mentioned, weed will impair your judgement and decision-making, and unfortunately this may lead to permanent problems.
A prime example of this may due to being under the influence of weed you decide to have unprotected sex. This in turn may lead to possible sexual diseases or a potential pregnancy. Now don’t get me wrong, an ill-informed decision like this can be made by anyone at anytime, although the chances are far higher if you’re not thinking straight.
Facts
1) There is a much higher risk of having a heart attack – It has been estimated that for up to an hour after you have smoked weed, you are 5 times more likely to have a heart attack. Unfortunately, this is due to the enhanced level of chemicals in your body, which in turn will have an effect on your blood pressure and indeed your heart.
2) There is a much higher risk of cancer – Marijuana has so many different chemicals, most of which I’m sure you’ve never heard of, and weed smoke is considered to be twice as potent as that of cigarettes. Therefore, you essentially are doubling the risk of cancer. Smoking marijuana may also lead to various breathing related illnesses and diseases, as it is known to destroy the lung tissues at a far faster rate.
3) Weed is the most used illegal drug in the world – I would think that this is simply because many people believe that marijuana is harmless. If you think about it there has never actually been one shred of evidence or scientific research that says that marijuana consumption is good for you. Weed will eventually have a negative impact on your heart, lungs, kidneys, in fact the vast majority of your bodily organs.

Smoking in the presence of hypertension (high blood pressure) can heighten the risk of more damage to your heart, particularly the blood vessels that feed the heart.
The big factor in hypertension is the narrowing of the blood vessels. With each puff from a cigarette, the blood vessels constrict even more, which will have a direct impact on high blood pressure, causing it to increase.
Risk factors for hypertension:
Family history, gender, age, race, high body fat, stress and smoking.
Smoking can help plaque to deposit and stick to the surface of the arteries, which results in a more narrow passage way for blood to travel through, resulting in the heart having to work harder.
This puts added strain on the heart muscle and vessels, which can lead to inflammation. Additionally, the heart can become enlarged, which will affect the pumping action and the heart’s ability to circulate blood to the rest of the body.
How smoking affects you:
There are thousands of toxins in cigarettes which enter your body every time you smoke. This reduces the amount of oxygen present in your system.
Nicotine promotes the production of adrenalin in the adrenal gland, which restricts the blood vessels and increases blood pressure.
Chemical properties of cigarettes:
Benzene (petrol additive)
This hydrocarbon comes from petrol and coal and is used as a solvent. It has been associated with leukemia and is known as a carcinogen.
Formaldehyde (embalming fluid)
A colorless liquid, highly poisonous, used to preserve dead bodies – also found in cigarette smoke. Known to cause cancer, respiratory, skin and gastrointestinal problems.
Ammonia (toilet cleaner)
Used as a flavoring, frees nicotine from tobacco turning it into a gas, found in dry cleaning fluids.
Acetone (nail polish remover)
Fragrant volatile liquid ketone, used as a solvent, for example, nail polish remover – found in cigarette smoke.
Tar Particulate
Matter drawn into lungs when you inhale on a lighted cigarette. Once inhaled, smoke condenses and about 70 per cent of the tar in the smoke is deposited in the smoker’s lungs.
Nicotine (insecticide/addictive drug)
An extremely addictive substance.
Carbon Monoxide (CO) (car exhaust fumes)
An odorless, tasteless, and poisonous gas, rapidly fatal in large amounts
Arsenic (rat poison),
Hydrogen Cyanide (gas chamber poison)
Your risk of heart attack is greater if you suffer from hypertension, and your blood pressure increases when you smoke. This makes the two of these together a deadly combination.
It is a good idea to consult with a doctor who can prescribe you with the appropriate course of action.

So You Want to Know How to Quit Smoking Weed
In order to stop smoking weed and make a real change in your life, there are some things you should know so that you can make this happen.
First of all realize that smoking weed is an addiction. Just because it is a “soft” drug without a huge physical dependency does not mean that it is not an addictive substance. Smoking pot is a real addiction and so is the lifestyle associated with it. If you smoke it for long enough then eventually your whole life will be set up around buying and using the drug with other people who do the same. Thus it becomes a lifestyle choice and it is not a very healthy one in the long run for a variety of reasons. This goes beyond the physical damage that is caused by smoking and also includes the fact that you are medicating your feelings and escaping reality when you smoke every day. This makes you stagnate in terms of emotional growth and most people will slow down mentally as well. All in all, there are a number of good reasons to want to overcome an addiction that as debilitating as this one.
The way to make this happen is to make a decision in your mind. If you hem and haw over this idea then nothing will come of it. You can’t just wish for things to be different and expect your whole lifestyle to suddenly change for the better. You have created a life that revolves around smoking weed and it’s going to take a tremendous amount of effort to undo that. So if you want to go through with it then you need a firm decision about it. If there is the slightest hesitation then you should resume your weed smoking and just shelve the idea for a later date. You are not ready yet.
If you are ready though then it might make sense for you to attend treatment. Even though you do not need a physical detox from Marijuana, you can still benefit from treatment in a number of ways. One way is through the help and support of other people in treatment who are all on the same path as you are. The other way is through an introduction to the 12 step program that can also help you to stay clean in the long run. Finally, you’ll also get hooked up with someone in therapy and they can give you guidance and help you work through certain issues that you may have. Treatment can be an important step for many people in early recovery.
After you leave treatment and gain some knowledge and tools about how to stay clean, you will need to shift your lifestyle quite a bit in order to maintain your new found sobriety. If you go back to your same set of friends and your same old hangouts then it is likely that you will get high again. The way to change this is not to deprive yourself of doing things, but rather to shift your interests and find some new things to do. Life is about to get really exciting for you if you are willing to explore your options and have a little fun with it. There is more to life than getting high and once you get clean from the chemicals then you can start experiencing some awesome new things again. Life will be worth living again and you will find purpose and meaning in your life as long as you stay clean and sober. Although you might feel depressed at first without your drug, it does get better! The key is to start purposefully creating a new life for yourself.

Health Effects of Smoking That Every Smoker Should Know
by electropod
Health Effects of Smoking That Every Smoker Should Know
Smoking was once thought to be “cool” and many people, especially the younger generation attempting to emulate the more experienced folks energetically participated and quickly became addicted and vulnerable to the Health Effects Of Smoking, without thinking, and in the case of youth, without the experience and knowledge needed to consider future consequences.
Youth, peer pressure, and sometimes just pure innocence have a way of misleading us at times, but those times are the times that most of us commonly look back on as we progress in Life, experience preventable health risks and say, “If only I could go back and do things differently”.
Armed with modern day information on the health risks of smoking, a lot of current smokers would probably go back to prevent the negative health effects if they could, in any case, they could surely find the incentive to stop smoking from the alarming facts.
Because of the approximately four thousand different chemicals coming from cigarette smoke, many of which are toxic, a person’s organ functions and immune system can be affected if a smoker-smokes for a long time. Occasionally, in minimal cases, a smoker will experience negative affects to the internal organs and immune system after less than a year of smoking.
Chemicals in cigarette smoke affect the Human body in many ways:
The nicotine gets to the brain in just a matter of seconds after inhaling cigarette smoke and is found in all parts of a smoker’s body, including in the breast milk of nursing mothers.
Carbon monoxide binds itself to the red coloring matter of red blood corpuscles called hemoglobin which deliver life giving oxygen to the body’s tissues – hemoglobin also delivers carbon dioxide from body tissues to the lungs.
The much heard of carcinogens cause cancer and damage genes that control cell growth, influencing them to form abnormally or to generate to fast, whereas a carcinogen known as benzopyrene binds itself to smokers’ major organs and airways.
Chemicals from cigarette smoke also induce a physiological reaction called oxidative stress to occur. The oxidative stress causes DNA to mutate and brings about inveterate lung injury. Oxidative stress is also suspected to be behind the aging process which contributes to cancer development and heart disease.
Antioxidants that the body produces help it to repair its damaged cells, but smoking inhibits the production of those antioxidants.
The health effects of smoking that every smoker should know about but apparently does not, impact the body with unnecessary health risks that if known about and understood, would most-likely-cause all smokers to reconsider their asinine choice.
