Smoking pot is pretty common among people today. It has grown in popularity with all types of people from all different backgrounds. Although it is considered a “soft” drug it does come with it’s own dangers. As many people know when you do pot you inhale it and sometimes begin to suffer from memory loss. There are different effects on different people but these two are the most common.

Inhaling pot smoke does damage your lungs just the way a cigarette would. Although the damage is not as sever as cigarette smoke it does cause damage none the less. Your respiratory system begins to suffer when you smoke pot regularly. If you smoke pot regularly you know that running will take it out of you and catching your breath begins to become a struggle. Along with the breathing problems that marijuana causes you also increase your chances of lung cancer when you smoke pot. When deciding to stop smoking weed this is great to keep in mind. Ask your self do you really want to gamble with your life any longer.

Smoking pot also causes short term memory loss. The THC that marijuana contains damages the part of your brain that is responsible for memory. It is also common for people that smoke marijuana to have a harder time learning new material and retaining new information as opposed to non-smokers. If you smoke weed you know that this is very true. Remembering things that you just heard is sometimes impossible when you are high or were just high.

There are a million reasons to stop smoking weed and if you want to quit just pick one reason. The health benefits alone are worth the lifestyle change. Whatever your reason maybe for wanting to quit smoking weed just do it. Stop the habit now and you can be drug free for the rest of your life.

For some, the hardest part about quitting smoking is that they have developed all these habits around smoking for so long and now they will have to give them up as well. For instance, many people simply live for the first cigarette in the morning with a cup a black coffee as they read the newspaper. Once that people quits smoking, this ritual is missing a primary component. If that person wakes up in the morning and brews a fresh pot of quality black coffee and reaches for the newspaper, of course he is going to miss the cigarette in a big, big way. Part of after stop smoking that is important if it is to stick is disassociating smoking with some of the other activities that you enjoy that you used to relate to smoking.

During the first stages after stop smoking, it might be a good idea to switch from coffee to tea. This will create a new ritual that won’t be associated in your mind with smoking cigarettes. Although tea might not back the punch you are looking for in the morning, it will help you to wean yourself off the connection between smoking and coffee. Eventually, when you have stopped smoking for long enough, which will be different for everyone, you can return to the coffee ritual and see how it feels. Stay hyper-aware of your desire to smoke a cigarette as you return to the original ritual for the first time. If all you can think about is smoking a cigarette, you are probably not ready to return to that.

Another thing people struggle with after stop smoking is drinking alcohol. A lot of people tend to smoke a lot when they drink. They say they enjoy smoking a lot more when they drink. In fact, there is a joke that goes: I’ve decided to only smoke when I drink to limit my smoking, but instead I just became an alcoholic.

The point is that these to actions are inseparably tied to each other for many people. That’s why, like coffee, it can be a really good idea to give up alcohol immediate after stop smoking. Eventually, you can reintroduce alcohol to your life if you think you won’t be tempted to smoke while you drink alcohol. Another tip for post-smoking is to begin a strict exercise regimen. This can not only keep your mind of smoking, but it can also help you to limit your smoking desire.

Those who smoke absolutely love the occasional puff on a cigarette. Little do they know what their habit is doing to them.

The natural cleaning mechanism of your lungs starts to get eroded away. Carbon monoxide, a colorless, odorless and lethal gas typical of car exhaust fumes moves straight into your blood stream via the lungs. This simple organic compound acts to combine with more force than oxygen to the hemoglobin in red blood cells. This forces away any molecules of oxygen. Never being released, the oxygen carrying capacity of the blood is lowered by up to 15%. Less than normal levels of energy providing oxygen reach your brain and other tissues, physical activity becomes more difficult.

Nicotine reaches the brain in around 10 seconds after having inhaled your first cigarette smoke. Absorbed into the blood and hitting the brain, the central nervous system is affected resulting in an increase in heart beats which in turn increases your hearts requirement for oxygen.
