Smoking is a slow poison which kills people gradually. It starts with lighting a cigarette which invades the lungs first and finally affects almost all parts of body like brain, heart, digestive system and may reduce immunity also. It is the major cause for lung cancer and many cardiovascular diseases. Chain smokers are also prone to strokes and mouth cancer. A survey on smoking by US center of disease control says that more than 20% of male as well as female adults smoke. Tobacco and nicotine are the major components in cigarettes to which people get addicted. They affect the environment and have adverse effects on people surrounding also. Quit smoke help is necessary for chain smokers who spoil themselves as well as the surrounding environment.
The major requirement for quitting this habit is to have a strong determination. If someone tries to quit it without any determination they will go back to smoking anytime taking advantage on their stresses and tension. Once you are determined you will come to know the treatment which you require. The easiest way is to gradually reduce the number of cigarettes taken every day. If you are not successful with it you can go for medical treatment. First mental treatment is given in the form of counseling and making them involve in other good activities which will divert them. Few questions will be asked and the answers are analyzed. Based on it the further treating procedure is decided.
There are many psychological ways to quit smoking and the person himself can do it. First, one has to decide upon the time it will be taken for him or her to completely quit it. Keep telling your friends and family about your quitting plan which will encourage you. Decide what you need for quitting it and be ready to face the challenges when you do so. Change the surrounding environment but removing all the traces of cigarettes and things which will make you remember smoking like ash trays, lighters etc. Finally talk to your doctor about your situation and go for further medical treatment if necessary.
Medicines and pills are available for reducing this habit but they have more side effects than curing it. Non nicotine medicines are available which reduces withdrawal symptoms to some extent. If counseling doesn’t work out some medical treatments are available to treat people in a different way. Hypnosis and acupuncture are some of ways which will help out in the case of addictive smokers.
Eating habits of some of the people involve smoking at the end of every meal. Smoking after a meal is very bad as it does not allow the human body to absorb the nutrition which was taken in the meal. Having fresh juices and nutritious desserts will be of great help to control smoking after meal.
Social smoking is a trend nowadays. So as to feel comfortable, people smoke in social situations. Involvement in public speaking and development of their
communication skills will help them out to come out of it. So people should think of them and the family behind them and quit smoking to lead a healthy life.

The electronic cigarette is a real alternative to traditional cigarettes for smokers. This clever Chinese invention was developed and patented in 2004 by a company called Ruyan. The inventor was looking for a smoking alternative for his father who had lung cancer, and came up with this great product which is now a worldwide phenomenon.
The e cigarette consists of a small lithium battery which powers an atomiser to produce vapour from a small refill cartridge that is enclosed inside the cigarette. The e cigarette looks and feels very much like a real cigarette and the vapour produced when the smoker inhales gives the sensation of smoking (including the much required throat hit) that smokers crave. The refill cartridges are filled with an e liquid that contains propylene glycol (dry ice), nicotine, colourings and flavourings but none of the harmful chemicals associated with traditional cigarettes. And of course, there is no tar.
There are many alternatives to smoking on the market today; everything from patches to nicotine gum. However, every alternative works on the basis that nicotine replacement is all that the smoker needs to be able to stop smoking. The truth is that this is not the case.
For example, smoking is a very social thing. Many smokers get pleasure out of smoking when drinking, or after a meal. The electronic cigarette can be used as an exact replacement for this and will not offend people around the smoker with the smell and effects of passive smoke. The smoker doesn’t feel as if they are missing out on, what is to them, a pleasurable experience. The fact that electronic cigarettes can be smoked legally anywhere makes them very popular with people who enjoy social smoking.

Many e cig customers use Zero nicotine strength refills so that they still have the physical feel of a cigarette without any nicotine intake at all.

I worked in Bahrain for almost a year, and may stay there was quite an experience. There was this time that I went to this area in Manama the capital of Bahrain where they have a lot of shops that was very affordable for tourist that wants to buy some souvenirs. But there is this activity that made me curious to peek in to this certain shop where they are smoking in a different way. I have learned that in the Arab countries, people smoke hookahs as part of their culture and traditions. Social smoking is done with a single or double hose, and sometimes even more numerous such as a triple or quadruple hose in the forms of parties or small get-togethers. When the smoker is finished, either the hose is placed back on the table signifying that it is available, or it is handed from one user to the next, folded back on itself so that the mouthpiece is not pointing at the recipient. It has been recorded that the Arabs are the biggest shisha smokers in the World and have the most shisha Cafes.
That was the place I was in. The most highly-dressed and beautiful hookah was prepared for me. I tried it, but did not like it. For the reason that, I was not really smoking. As after several attempts I still found it disagreeable in taste, I with much willingness requested to know whether it was really necessary that I should become a smoker, which was answered with equal gravity, “Undoubtedly it is, for you might as well be out of the world as out of the fashion. In this place everybody uses a hookah, and it is impossible to get on without” as told to me by the shop owner and have frequently heard men declare they would much rather be deprived of their dinner than their hookah.
A hookah is known by many different names in different parts of the world, a hubble-bubble or hubbly-bubbly, a water pipe. The most famous instance of hookah smoking is probably that of the caterpillar in Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland. A hookah consists of a hollow glass (sometimes clay or brass) base which is filled with water, a vertical pipe topped with a clay bowl for the shisha and coals, and a usually colorful hose. When one sucks on the hose, the smoke is drawn down the pipe and through the water, which cools and filters it. This also produces a peaceful bubbling sound. This sound is as delightful now as the prospect of blowing bubbles in a glass of milk was to most of us when we were in kindergarten. While Shisha is tobacco mixed with molasses and fruit flavors and is smoked in a hookah. Shisha tobacco is not your typical tobacco. It’s nothing like the tobacco you find in cigars, cigarettes, or dip. No, smoking true nargile shisha is an entirely different experience.
Shisha Tobacco is the Best as it’s been well documented in the media; the tobacco in cigarettes is anything but pure. Large amounts of nicotine and other additives make it extremely harmful. Some cigarettes claim to be additive free, but plain tobacco isn’t terribly pleasant to smoke. Smoked for flavor and not for any kind of effect, it proves a relaxing and peaceful pursuit. Since shisha is tobacco, smoking it involves some of the same ill effects as other types of smoking. It is very light and flavorful with a wonderful fruity aroma. The most popular flavor is apple; others include strawberry, pineapple, apricot, grape, rose, mint, and even cappuccino! (There is even an exclusive cola flavor). Is that cool or what?
In the Middle East, from Turkey to India , there are shisha cafes where people gather to smoke and drink coffee or tea. Smoking shisha can last two hours or more and is a very peaceful, social occasion generally filled with good conversation with friends. A shisha smoking session can last from thirty minutes up to and hour. As an ex-cigarette smoker, as said by a hookah smoker would explain says that shisha smoking is very smooth and most unnoticeable when inhaled.

A hookah is a water pipe that originated in India. Its use was widely spread by British Colonization and now it is a popular smoking tool throughout the world. Smokers are drawn to hookahs not only for the smooth smoke it produces, but also for their aesthetic value. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes, and are usually (but not always) made with a combination of glass and metal.
The design of a hookah water pipe allows for multiple hoses to lead to a single filtration chamber; this simplifies use by groups. (Too many hoses, however, reduces suction, and smokers may have to cover their mouthpiece while not in use.) Multi-hose hookahs are particularly popular in the Western world, where hookah smoking is a social phenomenon. They are not as common in Asia and Africa.
In Arab society, social smoking is done with a single hose: when the smoker is finished, either the hose is placed back on the table signifying that it is free, or it is handed from one user to the next, folded back on itself so that the mouthpiece does not point at the person receiving it. The receiver taps or slaps the giver on the back of the hand while taking it. In cafes or restaurants, however, it is common for each smoker to order an individual hookah pipe.
Hookahs are traditionally ornately decorated. They have a very distinctive appearance, and bear similarities to the ritual use of the American Indian peace pipe.
Relative to other methods of smoking tobacco, hookah smoke is considered smoother and more flavorful. The quantity of smoke inhaled at one time is also much greater. Shisha smoking is generally believed to be less damaging to health than cigarettes. Research has shown that since the tobacco is being heated (as opposed to burn); fewer carcinogens are produced in the smoke. In addition, addiction happens significantly less frequently with hookahs – though this may be due to cultural factors, as well as the time it takes to set up a hookah.
Quick lighting charcoal, (of unknown composition), might be the biggest hazard for hookah users because it would produce more carbon monoxide and other dangerous substances than the natural one. Try to refrain from smoking hookah to stop using dangerous “self-lighting” charcoal and use natural charcoal and braziers in the traditional way, as Persians, Indians, Turks, and Arabs have been doing for centuries.
Hookah smoking has recently become popular in the United States among people not of Middle Eastern origin, especially in the college and university setting, particularly as an alternative to cigarettes or cigars. The idea of hookah less as a tobacco habit and more as a community activity often affords it a wider appeal than cigarettes or cigars.
Hookahs have three main parts, the base, the bowl and the hoses. The base is usually glass, and it is here that the water is held. The water is used as a filtration system to cut down on ashes and other contaminates, and also to cool down the smoke before it reaches the smokers lungs. This ensures a much smoother smoke. It should be noted that the water can be substituted with juices, wine, and other liquids to vary the flavor of the smoke.
The bowl is usually made of clay. Tobacco is placed into the tray, and a screen or sheet of foil with small holes, is placed over the bowl. The tobacco is heated by placing a hot coal on top of the screen. Hookahs use indirect heat, thus essentially vaporizing, not actually burning, the tobacco, enhancing the flavor. The bowl attaches to a stem, which, in turn, fits into the base. Most hookahs have a rubber seal where the base and stem attach together. This helps to eliminate air leaks. The hoses are what most people think of when they hear the word hookah. These can vary in length and number, and are often ornately decorated. They can be made of plastic tubing or cardboard. When purchasing a hookah pipe, one should take into consideration that over time, with use and cleaning, cardboard hoses will need to be replaced at a much faster rate than plastic tubing.
The water in the base should be changed often. If it is not the quality of the smoke will suffer. This is even more important if you are using a substitute liquid. The water will begin to smell, and this smell will permeate the flavor of the smoke. Less often, but still on a regular basis, the entire hookah should be cleaned. Rinsing the pieces off with warm soapy water usually accomplishes this, but there are cleaning solutions available if it hasn’t been cleaned in a while. Do not use ordinary household cleaners on your hookah. Not only can some chemicals damage it, but it also poses a health risk if not completely rinsed out.
Always place your hookah smoking pipe on the floor when smoking. A hookah pipe that is accidentally knocked off of a table can send hot coals flying. There is also a risk of damage to the hookah itself. Clay bowls can break easily. Hookahs offer the user a smooth, relaxing smoking experience, as well as a wonderful conversation piece. There is nothing quite so relaxing as sharing a smoke with good friends, and admiring a well made and artistic hookah.

A hookah is a water pipe that originated in India. Its use was widely spread by British Colonization and now it is a popular smoking tool throughout the world. Smokers are drawn to hookahs not only for the smooth smoke it produces, but also for their aesthetic value. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes, and are usually (but not always) made with a combination of glass and metal.
The design of a hookah water pipe allows for multiple hoses to lead to a single filtration chamber; this simplifies use by groups. (Too many hoses, however, reduces suction, and smokers may have to cover their mouthpiece while not in use.) Multi-hose hookahs are particularly popular in the Western world, where hookah smoking is a social phenomenon. They are not as common in Asia and Africa.
In Arab society, social smoking is done with a single hose: when the smoker is finished, either the hose is placed back on the table signifying that it is free, or it is handed from one user to the next, folded back on itself so that the mouthpiece does not point at the person receiving it. The receiver taps or slaps the giver on the back of the hand while taking it. In cafes or restaurants, however, it is common for each smoker to order an individual hookah pipe.
Hookahs are traditionally ornately decorated. They have a very distinctive appearance, and bear similarities to the ritual use of the American Indian peace pipe.
Relative to other methods of smoking tobacco, hookah smoke is considered smoother and more flavorful. The quantity of smoke inhaled at one time is also much greater. Shisha smoking is generally believed to be less damaging to health than cigarettes. Research has shown that since the tobacco is being heated (as opposed to burn); fewer carcinogens are produced in the smoke. In addition, addiction happens significantly less frequently with hookahs – though this may be due to cultural factors, as well as the time it takes to set up a hookah.
Quick lighting charcoal, (of unknown composition), might be the biggest hazard for hookah users because it would produce more carbon monoxide and other dangerous substances than the natural one. Try to refrain from smoking hookah to stop using dangerous “self-lighting” charcoal and use natural charcoal and braziers in the traditional way, as Persians, Indians, Turks, and Arabs have been doing for centuries.
Hookah smoking has recently become popular in the United States among people not of Middle Eastern origin, especially in the college and university setting, particularly as an alternative to cigarettes or cigars. The idea of hookah less as a tobacco habit and more as a community activity often affords it a wider appeal than cigarettes or cigars.
Hookahs have three main parts, the base, the bowl and the hoses. The base is usually glass, and it is here that the water is held. The water is used as a filtration system to cut down on ashes and other contaminates, and also to cool down the smoke before it reaches the smokers lungs. This ensures a much smoother smoke. It should be noted that the water can be substituted with juices, wine, and other liquids to vary the flavor of the smoke.
The bowl is usually made of clay. Tobacco is placed into the tray, and a screen or sheet of foil with small holes, is placed over the bowl. The tobacco is heated by placing a hot coal on top of the screen. Hookahs use indirect heat, thus essentially vaporizing, not actually burning, the tobacco, enhancing the flavor. The bowl attaches to a stem, which, in turn, fits into the base. Most hookahs have a rubber seal where the base and stem attach together. This helps to eliminate air leaks. The hoses are what most people think of when they hear the word hookah. These can vary in length and number, and are often ornately decorated. They can be made of plastic tubing or cardboard. When purchasing a hookah pipe, one should take into consideration that over time, with use and cleaning, cardboard hoses will need to be replaced at a much faster rate than plastic tubing.
The water in the base should be changed often. If it is not the quality of the smoke will suffer. This is even more important if you are using a substitute liquid. The water will begin to smell, and this smell will permeate the flavor of the smoke. Less often, but still on a regular basis, the entire hookah should be cleaned. Rinsing the pieces off with warm soapy water usually accomplishes this, but there are cleaning solutions available if it hasn’t been cleaned in a while. Do not use ordinary household cleaners on your hookah. Not only can some chemicals damage it, but it also poses a health risk if not completely rinsed out.
Always place your hookah smoking pipe on the floor when smoking. A hookah pipe that is accidentally knocked off of a table can send hot coals flying. There is also a risk of damage to the hookah itself. Clay bowls can break easily. Hookahs offer the user a smooth, relaxing smoking experience, as well as a wonderful conversation piece. There is nothing quite so relaxing as sharing a smoke with good friends, and admiring a well made and artistic hookah.

There are so many reasons these days to quit smoking Health, Political, Social and financial. Let’s take a look at each of these aspects and see how smoking relates to each.
Health
There are all the obvious health issues that we hear about such as Lung Cancer, Heart disease and respiratory disease. Smokers are 10 times as likely to get lung cancer and emphysema as nonsmokers. But what about the others like cancer of the esophagus and throat, high blood pressure and pulmonary embolism. Smoking causes increased stomach acid, leading to heartburn and ulcers. Smokers have higher risk of deadly pancreatic cancer. The carcinogens from cigarettes are present in the urine and can lead bladder cancer, which is often fatal. High blood pressure from smoking can damage the kidneys.
Do you get out of breath when you exert yourself even a little bit. This could be a precursor to Heart disease or respiratory disease. Are your feet always cold. This could be due to high blood pressure and poor circulation. Smoking constricts blood vessels and raises your heart rate and it takes about 60 minutes from taking your last puff for your blood pressure and pulse decrease.
Even if you don’t get cancer, do you want to be one of those people carrying an oxygen bottles everywhere you go for the rest of your life.
Everyone has heard about people committing suicide by breathing the exhaust (carbon monoxide) of their car. But did you know that each puff of cigarette smoke contains 3.2% carbon monoxide. Carbon monoxide robs the blood of oxygen because the hemoglobin in your blood will pickup carbon monoxide molecules in favor of oxygen, and it takes over an hour for the carbon monoxide levels in your blood return to normal after that last puff. Each cigarette you smoke contains at least 17 known poisons that you take into your body with each puff.
And not to mention the danger of second hand smoke to our children and other love ones. Children are the ones most affected by second hand smoke. Because their bodies are still developing, exposure them to the poisons in secondhand smoke puts children in danger of severe respiratory diseases and can hinder the growth of their lungs and the effects can last a lifetime.
If you smoke during your pregnancy you are not only risking your health but endangering the health of your unborn child. On average, babies of women who smoke weigh less at birth than babies of nonsmokers. Statistics have showed that infant mortality is 50 percent higher when the mother smokes. Children of smokers are also 2½ times more likely to die of sudden infant death syndrome, or crib death.
Political
Today there are more and more laws being passed related to smoking, you can no longer smoke inside any public place and in some places you have to go to a designated smoking area even if you are outside. You cannot enjoy the cigarette with your cup of coffee after dinner or smoke while sitting at the bar, no you have to go outside in the cold to the smoking area for that all important smoke break.
There are places that if your smoke is drafted from your house to your neighbors they can report you to the police department for disciplinary action.
Many companies have started to refuse to hire smokers. Smokers cost more money than non-smokers to employ. Smokers take longer and more frequent breaks as well as use more sick days, and they cost more to insure.
Let face it as a smoker you do not have a legal leg to stand on, no rights and it is getting worse every day.
Social
Smoking causes premature aging and drying of the skin. The tobacco stains your fingers, fingernails and teeth. You have a yellow smile very embarrassing.
Your breath smells like an ashtray. Who want to kiss an ashtray.
Your close reeks of cigarette smoke.
If you smoke in your house it reeks of cigarette smoke and the paint is discolored and stained.
Your car smells and there are cigarette ashes everywhere and the glass and mirror are stained.
Financial
Remember when I said you no rights and no legal leg to stand on, well that’s not all, you are being fined for smoking. That’s right fined; in addition to the sales tax on that pack of cigarettes you have a sin tax for the sin of smoking. Cigarettes cost anywhere from .70 to .75 and .87 to .25 of that is tax.
The average cost of a pack of cigarettes is about .25. Let’s assume you smoke one pack per day. During the course of a year, those cigarettes are costing you 365 x .50 = 07.50. You think well that’s not too bad.
But what about the other cost related to smoking. Heath and life insurance cost more if you are a smoker. Increased dental care and cleaning costs. The cost of keeping your house and car cleaned not to mention your close and all the gum and breathe mints so you do not offend.
As you can see there are many reasons to quit smoking can you make a list of as many reasons not to stop.

A study done by the University of Chicago included 578 middle-aged adults – average age 40. A team measured their blood pressure and how long they slept. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend 7 to 9 hours of sleep. On average the volunteers slept 6 hours, with only 1% sleeping 8 hours or more. According to the study, missing an average of 1 hour of sleep a night over 5 years increases the risk of high blood pressure 37%. Because high blood pressure affects one-third of Americans and contributes to 7 million deaths yearly, this information shouldn’t be considered a sleeper.
A study done by “Trust for America’s Health” found more than 25% of adults are obese in 31 states. Adult obesity rates rose in 23 states and no state experienced a significant decline. At 32.5% Mississippi has the highest obesity rate; but in every state the rate of obesity is higher among 55 to 64-year-olds, causing Medicare to spend $ 1,400 to ,000 more annually on health care for obese seniors. In 1991 no state had more than a 20% obesity rate. In 2009 Colorado is the only state that doesn’t exceed that percentage. Americans need to understand fat can become “fat-al”.
A study published in the “American Journal of Preventative Medicine” said when the health risks of smoking became well-known in the 1970’s and 1980’s, the tobacco industry spent millions studying social smokers. Because social smokers don’t smoke on a daily basis, they don’t consider themselves smokers. Smoking in the U.S. has declined for a decade, but social smoking is rising. Between 1996 and 2001 social smokers went from 16% of smokers to 24%. Until social smokers admit they are smokers, campaigns to help them quit are likely to go up in smoke.
Social smokers are one reason smoking remains the leading, preventable cause of death in the U.S., causing 20% of deaths. Although the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced in 2008 the percentage of smokers was under 20% for the first time, a survey of 2,375 adults found the failing economy is making 17% of men and 31% of women smoke more. When cigarettes were hit in 2008 with the largest federal tax ever put on them, experts said the increased cost of smoking would be a major inducement for smokers to quit. Smokers seem unwilling to consider the cost to their health.
